Forced Circulation Evaporators
Vobis Forced Circulation Evaporators
Single or Multiple Effect
Mechanical Vapor Compression/Recompression (MVR)
Thermal Vapor Compression/ Recompression (TVR)
Vobis pilot and production scale, single or multiple effect, Forced Circulation Evaporators are recommended for clients seeking to efficiently process viscous process streams, feed streams containing suspended solids, or who have heat sensitive products which have a tendency to foul or scale the heat transfer surfaces of evaporators. These Forced Circulation Evaporator systems can incorporate mechanical vapor compression or thermal vapor compression capabilities for added energy efficiency.
Vobis Pilot Scale Forced Circulation Evaporators are implemented for clients seeking to fully characterize their processes prior to having Vobis aid in scaling-up to implement production scale single or multiple effect equipment systems. Typically, a single-effect pilot system is translated into an energy efficient production scale Multiple Effect evaporator which may incorporate Mechanical Vapor Recompression (MVR) or Thermal Vapor Recompression (TVR).
How Our Forced Circulation Evaporators Work
A pump circulates the liquid feed material through the appropriately sized heat exchanger tubes or plates at a high enough velocity to provide rapid heat renewal and transfer. This also keeps the heat transfer surfaces free of fouling and scaling even with high viscosity solutions and heavy slurries with crystals. The vaporization of the volatile components does not take place until it enters through the vapor head of the vapor separator. Our vapor separators are specifically designed to minimize entrainment of droplets and coupled with our high efficiency separation technologies, entrainment is further reduced. Liquid level is maintained in the heat exchanger above the heated surface and evaporation takes place only in the separator thus preventing fouling. Our Forced Circulation Evaporators are designed to be operated under vacuum so that the temperature required for evaporation is reduced to protect heat sensitive products.
Advantages of Our Forced Circulation Evaporators
Scaling and fouling are minimized by implementing our advanced designs.
Suitable for semi-viscous solutions and suspensions
High heat transfer coefficients
Heat exchange optimized by control of flow velocity in the tubes
Low temperature operation under vacuum to minimize product degradation
A wide range of corrosion resistant construction materials including titanium are available.
High turn down ratio
Further Considerations
Pilot Forced Circulation Evaporators perform better for higher solids quantities and higher viscosities than Falling Film Evaporators.
Our Pilot Forced Circulation Evaporators will generate scalable data to facilitate the design of production scale multiple-effect evaporators.
Allen Bradley or Siemens PLC control systems are typically implemented to accurately and reproducibly control our Forced Circulation evaporation systems.
Skid mounting or Modularization allows easy installation as well as ready access to all piping, control elements, and process vessels.
